North Simcoe Victim Services (NSVS) provides crisis intervention and follow up support through its programs. Each person’s reaction to a traumatic incident can be quite personal, however victims of a tragedy or crime often commonly feel as if they have lost complete control over everything in their lives. During the initial aftermath of a tragedy, individuals often want to talk to someone who understands their immediate needs, as it relates to their safety, and the different choices they may have. NSVCS’ intervention ensures all victims feel safe, secure, and linked into any support services that can benefit their situation. Referrals to other service agencies that offer on-going support are also offered.
Immediate Support – VCAO
Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO) are province-wide community response programs, geared to offer urgent, and interim crisis intervention services to those who have fallen victim to a disaster, tragedy, or crime. These programs are offered around the clock, 24/7, and 365 days per year.
North Simcoe Victim Services (NSVS) is one of about 50 agencies within the province to offer VCAO programs, which are funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General, Province of Ontario. The VCAO teams consist of staff and volunteers within the community who have been trained in crisis intervention, to offer practical assistance, emotional support, referrals, and information to victims; either on-scene or via the phone.
VCAO programs driven by dedicated and caring volunteers, working hand-in-hand with police and emergency service personnel. To learn more about our VCAO program, please contact us.
