Meet Kim Kneeshaw, Executive Director

Kim Kneeshaw joined North Simcoe Victim Services (NSVS) as a volunteer in 1999 after graduating from the inaugural volunteer training program. Her leadership role with NSVS began when, as a volunteer, she offered to take on the task of scheduling volunteers to ensure all shifts were covered 24/7. This led to her being hired as the organization’s Volunteer Coordinator, a position she held until she was the successful candidate in the competition for Executive Director in 2019.

“I am honoured to be appointed executive director of Victim Services and I look forward to continuing to work with our partners and supporters,” said Kneeshaw. “I am confident that together we will continue to help improve lives by providing the kind of 24/7 services that I know are so essential.”

Growing up on a farm in Oro-Medonte, Kim has always understood responsibility, teamwork and the need to work hard. She studied Business Administration during her post-secondary education, giving her the skills to succeed as manager and bookkeeper for her family’s businesses. Since joining NSVS, Kim has not only completed numerous specialized training courses related to victim services, but has also organized and led workshops for NSVS volunteers.

“Our organization’s strength comes from our outstanding team of crisis response volunteers and the support they receive from our leadership team. Kim not only understands the value of the work done by our volunteers, she has proven to have the leadership skills to help guide NSVS as we continue to grow and serve the needs of our community,” said Board Chair Catherine McCullough.

Outside of work hours, Kim enjoys spending time with her three adult children, her twin grandsons and her fur child Maggie.

Our Programs

Victim Quick Response Program

Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP) is a program that runs 24/7 to aid individuals in crisis immediately after they have been exposed to a tragic event or crime.

North Simcoe Victim Services (NSVS) provides crisis intervention via this program, on-scene or by telephone. Each person’s reaction to a traumatic incident can be quite personal; however, victims of a tragedy or crime often commonly feel they have lost complete control over everything in their lives.

During the aftermath of a tragedy, individuals often want to talk to someone who understands their immediate needs as it relates to their safety and their different choices. NSVCS’ intervention ensures all victims feel safe, secure, and linked to any support services that can benefit their situation. Referrals to other service agencies that offer ongoing support are offered. To learn more about the VQRP program, including eligibility criteria, click here.

Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario

Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO) is a province-wide community response program geared to offer urgent and interim crisis intervention services to those who have fallen victim to a disaster, tragedy, or crime. These programs are offered around the clock, 24/7, and 365 days per year.

North Simcoe Victim Services (NSVS) is one of about 50 agencies within the province to offer VCAO programs funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (Province of Ontario). The VCAO teams consist of staff and volunteers within the community who have been trained in crisis intervention to offer practical assistance, emotional support, referrals, and information to victims, either on-scene or via phone.

VCAO programs are driven by dedicated and caring volunteers, working hand-in-hand with police and emergency service personnel. To learn more about VCAO programs, click here.
